Microsoft’s latest push to consolidate partners under larger
direct partners is a smart one. Not only does it help direct partners generate
more revenue, speed up support times and reduce Microsoft’s overhead costs; the
move also provides indirect partners and their customers with additional benefits.
As a direct Microsoft CSP partner ourselves, Webmation evaluated the pros and cons of staying direct or switching to an indirect partner. The first big change was the new support package requirements that start at $15,000 a year and top $70,000 for advanced packages. Initially planning to stay direct, we were courted by several Enterprise level partners. During our evaluation process, the cost-to-benefit ratio of switching to an indirect partner became crystal clear.
